03 Feb Sunday Hunting in Pennsylvania
On 11-27-2019 Governor Tom Wolf lifted the century old prohibition on Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania. At least partially. Senate Bill 147 will open hunting on three Sundays starting in 2020: the final sunday of archery season, the first sunday of rifle bear season and the first sunday of rifle deer season.
Important amendments to note…
- On private land, hunters are required to have written permission by landowners for the three chosen Sundays.
- Local police departments will enforce trespassing laws alongside the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
While I wish we didn’t have to entertain this conversations, it is a step in the right direction. We are in full support increasing opportunities for all Pennsylvania hunters and those visiting our great state!
Special thanks to Senator Dan Laughlin for sponsoring the bill and to organizations such as BackCountry Hunters & Anglers and HUSH for your continued support and effort.
